The Wedding Is A Lot Of Peoples' Initial Focus, But The Wedding Rehearsal Supper Can Be Special, Too

There are numerous plans, expenditures and stresses that go hand in hand with arranging a wedding. If couples aren't mindful they can get so taken in with planning the event and endeavoring to get all the details right that there is little time to enjoy the experience. When my niece was arranging her wedding she had three bridal showers to be at, reception plans to make and was attempting to find a place for the rehearsal dinner. The third shower was given at my home. I am her godmother so I had wanted to make it really special for her. Shortly before the wedding shower we talked on the telephone. She sounded very pressured. She and her fiance were also having problems finding the best wedding songs for the wedding ceremony. I suggested that she arrive the night before the wedding shower and stay the night and we would chill out and I would help her make a list of what remained to be done prior to the wedding ceremony. She thought this sounded like a wonderful plan.

I did most of of the arrangements for the wedding shower prior to my niece getting there so that we could focus on her requirements. She said that the rehearsal dinner was her primary stress because the spot they had reserved had double booked, so they needed to locate a brand new location. We began by working on finding the best wedding songs for the wedding day so we could get one requirement out of the way thereby giving reassurance that the other would be handled as well. As I thought finding the best wedding songs was just a matter of searching the internet, listening to samples, ordering what was selected and that was that. Now to settle the rehearsal dinner.

The wedding rehearsal supper is historically arranged by the groom's family; as a matter of fact some people refer to the rehearsal dinner as the groom's dinner. My niece's fiance is from another state so his family is is paying for the rehearsal dinner, but they are not able to assist with making the plans. My niece had reached out to the restaurant where the wedding reception will be at, but the only available space was the part where the wedding reception would be held. My niece stated that the plan was to decorate the reception area before going to the church for the rehearsal.

We called two nearby restaurants to see if they could host the rehearsal dinner. Both had other happenings booked. Her fiance's mother and father are divorced, also both have married again. This meant that there were extra people that would be at the rehearsal dinner. This was also adding to her tension due to the fact that she was attempting to suss out the etiquette for seating. She had the seating chart figured out for the wedding day, but not knowing the place the rehearsal dinner would be located limited her opportunity to prepare a chart.

I asked my niece if she had reached out to the church to find out if the fellowship area would be open. Everybody could just socialize and have a light catered meal. This would be much less formal and would be much less difficult to plan. The fellowship area was available that date. We called two delis and ordered a buffet meal. My niece called her fiance and told him the brand-new plans for the rehearsal dinner. He thought this sounded great. He would make preparations to have a pal of his tend bar and would organize for the drinks.

The rehearsal dinner was a pleasant relaxed evening. The guests were able to socialize and mingle and the bride and groom did not feel the need to sit in one spot while everybody ordered their food and had it served. With having a buffet line the tone was very casual and the out of town guests did not have to try to find another site in an area that they weren't familiar with.
