An Alcohol Addicted Person Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Gets Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Addiction

Donald used to boast to his buddies how he could maintain a full-time job and get smashed almost every night. Regrettably, after involving himself in this destructive lifestyle for just about five years, he started to have numerous alcohol related problems.

For instance, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so drained when he got up. Furthermore, virtually every morning Donald suffered from a painful hangover. It was apparent that the combination of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make things more difficult, around a week ago he got his third driving under the influence arrest in the past year-and-a-half.

To further complicate things, at work his last two performance appraisals were less than satisfactory. And finally, his relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his depression, financial difficulties, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.

Though Donald was only twenty-three years old, he simply started to look like he was in his early forties. Unfortunately, this is what irresponsible drinking can do to a person. And in all honesty he comprehended that he was suffering from the adverse outcomes of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to give up his life to abusive and careless drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon found out that he lost all control after ingesting his first drink. Since this was an incident that was repeated every time he went to a bar to drink, this greatly worried him. In fact, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.

After mentioning his alcohol drinking problems and his irresponsible drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare practitioner. When Donald saw his healthcare practitioner, he genuinely stated that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to stop drinking. He said that drinking in moderation does not work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His family doctor referred Donald to Doctor Jones, a drug and alcohol addiction specialist, who influenced Donald to enter into an alcohol and drug rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this facility.

After three months of intensive rehab, Donald left the in-patient rehab center and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a more positive way, Donald joined a gym and started working out three or four times per week. Within four months Donald was a new person. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more caring individual in his relationship with his girlfriend. In brief, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
