As a wedding day & affair organizer, I am subject to more than my fair share of indignation and rage. You see, until people plan their first wedding, they never think about how much weddings cost. They wish to have reasonably priced wedding ceremonies, yet they also wish to have all of the glitz & glamor. The problem is that, even if you purchase low-cost bridal dresses, affordable wedding day cakes, low priced bridesmaid gowns, & all the rest, it will still add up to lots of money. The bottom line is that, if you want to have that affordable wedding, you need to be willing to make sacrifices.

I'm not saying that having reasonably priced wedding ceremonies is impossible. If you're willing to have a small wedding day ceremony with just a few of your very closest friends there, you are able to do it for quite a realistic price. You can make it special by incorporating touches like top wedding songs. The problem is that, if having reasonably priced wedding ceremonies is your intention, you need to plan everything around it. That means that you need to have a small guest list, make reservations at some reasonably priced place, have some low-cost wedding dress, rent a tuxedo for the groom, and play top wedding songs on a less expensive sound system, generally scrimp & save at every opportunity. Some of my clients have actually taken their own wedding day photographs to save on the cost of hiring a wedding day photographer!

The bottom line is that the most reasonably priced weddings are done in a judge's office. Everything else that you do costs extra money. Some families go in to debt for years because of what they spend on having a grand, extravagant wedding day. To me, it looks like a pity. When I meet customers who really want to have affordable weddings, I tell them to have them in the back-yard. That way, they can save on wedding day reservations - & play your top wedding songs on a boombox, if essential! If they are really ambitious, they can even cater it themselves. If there are going to be more than thirty people there, however, this is generally not an extremely good idea.

I suppose that it all really depends on what you expect from your wedding day. When I first became married, all I desired was some straightforward ceremony to dedicate my love to my wife. If this is all that you want as well, it is going to be very easy for you to plan some reasonably priced wedding day. If, on the flip side of the coin, you wish to have an extravagant party with all of your friends and family, you'll have to pay for it.
